Leeds United chasing only Brenden Aaronson
Leeds United are fully committed to signing Brenden Aaronson during this window and have no other transfer targets, according to Beren Cross.
Despite reportedly having a £15million bid for the American midfielder rejected (The Athletic), the club will return with an improved offer as they currently have no alternatives in mind.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, the Leeds Live journalist wrote: “So, Brenden Aaronson’s the one Leeds United want. The top and only target right now. Another offer will go in.”
Writing on Leeds Live, the journalist said: “January’s transfer chase revolves around Brenden Aaronson for Leeds United and a £15m rejection will not stop them at this point.”
Main man
The focus on the Red Bull Salzburg man is perhaps no surprise with star United midfielder Kalvin Phillips potentially out until March (The Guardian), but considering the injury problems throughout the squad it is slightly unexpected that he is the only target.
Adam Forshaw also had to be withdrawn during the first half of the victory over West Ham at the London Stadium, although his injury is believed to be comparatively minor (Leeds Live).
Some form of attacking reinforcements might have been expected with the extensive absences at that end of the team over past weeks but with Rodrigo returning off the bench in East London and Patrick Bamford thought to be close to a return finally, Marcelo Bielsa may be banking on his squad expanding naturally.

Still only 21, the USMNT player would be making his biggest step up so far having only moved from Major League Soccer (MLS) 18 months ago, but so far he has shown he is capable, also with five goals in 15 international caps.
And if he does arrive he will be expected to contribute quickly as, despite Jack Harrison’s hat-trick securing the crucial victory at the weekend, the Whites are still stuck down in 15th place in the Premier League.
Going has been much tougher in the second season back in the top flight, although the injuries have been a huge hindrance.
Harrison’s star showing could be a good omen if Aaronson, who left Philadelphia Union after two seasons in MLS, does arrive, with the English midfielder’s development beginning with two terms in the American league at a similar age with New York City FC.
In other Leeds United news, the club reportedly scouted this player in a match last night.
