Leeds United chase multimillion striker Jusef Erabi as talks emerge in race vs Norwich City
Leeds United are in discussions with Hammarby over a deal for striker Jusef Erabi before the transfer deadline, according to Marc Mechenoua.
The Le Perisien journalist reported via X on 16 August that the Whites and Championship rivals Norwich are both after the Swede and have been informed of his price tag.
Hammarby want €10million for the forward [£8.52m] and talks are said to be ongoing over a possible agreement.
Daniel Farke is under pressure to strengthen the squad with Georginio Rutter to latest start set to depart after Brighton triggered his release clause [David Ornstein, 14 August].
Leeds United battle Norwich amid Jonathan Rowe chase
Every time a new release clause suddenly emerges to see another key piece of the Whites squad depart the picture of getting gloomier at Elland Road.
After Crysencio Summerville exited to West Ham it was believed that Farke wanted three new signings to remain in contention for the play offs [The Athletic, 5 August].
Rutter’s move almost certainly ups that number, along with the chaotic start to the season on the pitch which has seen six goals conceded and an exit from the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle.
The Whites are already in a battle with the Canaries over their own attacking talent in Jonathan Rowe, as they look to replace Summerville with the 21-year-old winger.
An offer is set to go in to outbid rivals Marseille [TEAMtalk, 12 August] who aren’t prepared to meet the £15million asking price, while Monaco are stuck at present as they need to offload a player first [Santi Aouna, 13 August].
Erabi, also 21, could be the replacement for Rutter in attack but time is running out to even get the squad looking close to what it was when last term’s promotion bid failed.
In other Leeds United news, the 49ers have lined up a multimillion pound alternative as they know the Rowe pursuit might fail.
