Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe shares excitable FaceTime call with Ethan Ampadu

Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe shared an excitable FaceTime call with new signing Ethan Ampadu after the defender joined the club from Chelsea.

The deal to take the 22-year-old to Elland Road was completed on 19 July, with the Whites paying a reported £7million plus add-ons for his services.

Following the announcement, Leeds posted a video of the Wales international’s first day at the club’s training ground and it featured him having a FaceTime call with new chairman Paraag Marathe.

“I’m excited to have you here – you are the first signing of the new era. When they write this storybook 10 years from now and they go to the first chapter and ask who was the first signing of the new dawn of Leeds United, it is you.”

Heartwarming

It’s heartwarming to see Marathe show so much love for Ampadu in the video and that he is clearly so excited to have him at the club.

A number of pundits have moved to praise Leeds’ move for the defender, who has racked up some invaluable experience out on loan in Serie A over the past couple of seasons, as he played 60 games for Venezia and Spezia.

The new owners have put their money where their mouth is by bringing Ampadu in for a significant fee and it’s great to see the chairman taking time out to speak to 49ers Enterprises’ first signing.

Whites fans will be hoping it is a signing that they will look back on as a highly successful one in a few years and that it is, indeed, the dawn of a new era at Elland Road.

Positive steps like this will go a long way to getting the fans on board ahead of the new season, as they will be hugely important in helping the club in its bid to win promotion back up to the Premier League.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have made an enquiry for a “magic” PSG midfielder.
