Leeds United can sign Dejan Ljubicic for £6.8m as bid submitted to Koln

Leeds United could sign Dejan Ljubicic for £6.8million from Koln as he dreams of “big-time football”, according to Bild.

The German newspaper reported on 7 August that the 26-year-old dreams of a move away from Germany “now and again”.

The Austrian is said to be a “beacon of hope” for the 2.Bundesliga side and would only be let go if the Whites made “a mega offer”.

Christian Keller, Koln’s Sports administrator, would “only be tempted” if an offer of around £6.8m came in.

Cologne’s midfield star is a beacon of hope in the promotion battle after a top preparation.

Leeds United could now sign Dejan Ljubicic

Daniel Farke is in need of a versatile midfield option after a summer of departures in the centre of the park at Elland Road.

Key players of last campaign, Archie Gray and Glen Kamara have completed moves away and have left a hole in the squad for Leeds.

Although the Austrian wouldn’t be the only signing needed, bringing Ljubicic in could prove to be excellent business.

The Koln star is versatile enough to play in any position in the midfield while also being comfortable playing out wide when needed.

Playing in a possession-based side, where Championship games are likely to be easier at times, the former Rapid Wein man could thrive.

This could also provide him with the opportunity to refind some goalscoring form after drawing a blank last season, despite scoring eight the year before [FotMob].

With a fee of just £6.4m mooted, Farke and Co. could have found themselves a bargain and should push to get this one across the line.

In other Leeds news, the Whites may look to repeat their Crysnecio Summerville trick with a new transfer this summer.
