Leeds United boss Daniel Farke still wants four or five new players before transfer deadline

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke still wants to sign four or five new players before the transfer deadline, according to Daily Mail writer Simon Jones.

Writing in his Monday transfer confidential column, Jones provided an update on where Leeds are at as the close of the window draws near.

He named Tottenham right-back Djed Spence and Leicester City full-back Luke Thomas as two players on Leeds’ wishlist.

And Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara was once more suggested as a player of interest, though Jones said no deal has yet been agreed.

Leeds have already added Karl Darlow, Sam Byram, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Joel Piroe this summer.

Leeds fans will have been buoyed by earning a first Championship win of the campaign on Saturday (26 August) thanks to a thrilling 4-3 win against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Piroe scored Georginio Rutter after being in attack, while previously wantaway duo Wilfried Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra – both of whom will face an unclear future until the window slam shuts – were also on target.

But Leeds’ squad is still a little threadbare, especially if they lose a few to injury during the season, so it only makes sense that manager Farke should want to still sign as many as five players before the deadline is up.

Leeds have endured a troubling couple of months, and the German will be desperate more than anything to just have a clear idea of who is and is not in this squad and what he has to work with over the next months.

The fans too will just want to merely focus on the football now and an attempt at getting straight back to the Premier League.

In other Leeds United news, a Patrick Bamford exit is on the cards now at Elland Road.
