Leeds United told Borja Sainz is theirs for the taking in Norwich exit news

Leeds United simply must have a successful summer transfer window as they prepare for life in the Premier League next season.

The Whites clinched promotion to the top tier when their four consecutive victories coincided with Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United’s poor run of form.

After hammering Stoke City 6-0 last time out, the Elland Road outfit now have to beat Bristol City on Monday to leapfrog Burnley into first place.

The Robins could prove to be tough opposition for Daniel Farke’s men, as they need a victory to secure their playoff spot.

Don Goodman tips Borja Sainz to leave Norwich and join Leeds

Farke previously won two Championship titles with Norwich and is just two wins away from clinching second-tier silverware with Leeds.

But Don Goodman has urged the Whites boss to haunt his former club and bring Norwich forward Borja Sainz to Elland Road this summer.

The Sky Sports pundit told Football League World (27 April): “Having had such a stellar season, I’m pretty confident that Sainz would want to try to play Premier League football or very high-end football in Europe.

“Obviously, Leeds United would offer Premier League football, so it would be a no-brainer if you ask me. If that is an option for Sainz to leave Norwich for Leeds, then why wouldn’t he take it?”

Leeds should be wary of signing Sainz

By scoring 17 goals in 40 Championship appearances this season, Sainz has proven that he is too good to be playing for a Norwich side who sit 14th in the second tier and have seen their playoff chances slip away.

The Spaniard may fancy his chances of playing in the Premier League next season, while the Whites can offer top-tier football after securing promotion.

However, even though Sainz is still the second top scorer in the Championship, behind only Leeds’ hotshot Joel Piroe, he has only scored two goals in 2025, which came in successive defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City last month.

The 24-year-old has proven his class by scoring two hat-tricks in the second tier this season, but the Whites should be wary of signing an out-of-form forward as they look to bolster their ranks ahead of their Premier League campaign.

Leeds supporters may prefer to see the Elland Road club acquire players who have a proven track record in the top flight.
