Leeds United blown out of water in Rak-Sakyi transfer race after £7m bid rejection

Sheffield United are close to signing Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan ahead of Leeds United after a £7million bid was rejected by Crystal Palace, according to the Standard.

The newspaper reported on 8 August that the Blades have agreed to pay £1m and the full wages of the 21-year-old for the season.

The Whites were interested in the winger but after a £7m bid from Southampton was rejected, the Eagles opted to accept a loan.

Leeds United miss out on Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

Daniel Farke is in desperate need of a wide option at Elland Road after Crysencio Summerville completed a move to West Ham.

Leeds do have positive assets in those positions with the likes of Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto but depth may prove to be an issue.

This saw the Whites look into the signing of Rak-Sakyi who has proven himself to be a top player at League One level with Charlton Athletic.

Last season the former England U20 international stayed at Selhurst Park but was featured very sparingly under both Oliver Glasner and Roy Hodgson.

This has seen Palace look to move the youngster on but do seem reluctant to part ways with him permanently.

At £7m a deal would have made perfect sense for Farke and Co. but a loan would almost benefit a potential rival if Leeds are promoted.

Rak-Sakyi could have been a fan favourite at Elland Road but other targets like Jonathan Rowe may be better suited.
