Leeds United bid £21.6m for Krstovic transfer, counter-offer made for striker

Leeds United are working on signing a new striker at Elland Road, with Lecce forward Nikola Krstovic on their radar.

The Whites are looking to strengthen their attack ahead of their return to Premier League action, and the Montenegro international is on their radar.

Krstovic is wanted at Elland Road this summer, and despite his preference to join Roma, the West Yorkshire outfit haven’t seemed to have lost hope.

Lukas Nmecha has arrived to give Daniel Farke much-needed options up front, and the Peacocks now know what will be required to seal a deal for the 25-year-old from the Serie A outfit.

Lecce want £34.7m for Krstovic transfer after Leeds United offer

Lecce want £34.7million for Krstovic after Leeds submitted a bid, according to CalcioStyle.

The news outlet reports (16 July) that the Whites recently made a £21.6m offer for the centre-forward, but the Italian club countered it.

It’s been claimed that the 25-year-old is pushing for a stay in Serie A and is waiting for an offer from a big team amid interest from Elland Road.

The Montenegro striker’s future will certainly be one to keep an eye on, but it seems unlikely for the West Yorkshire outfit to sign him due to the significant valuation gap.

Farke should move on from Krstovic transfer and pursue alternative targets

Besiktas centre-forward Semih Kilicsoy is being eyed by Leeds this summer, but the 19-year-old isn’t yet the finished product.

The Whites relied on Joel Piroe to score goals consistently last season, but it remains to be seen how the Dutchman will fare in the Premier League.

While the ex-Swansea star won the Championship Golden Boot in the previous campaign, the English top flight is a different kettle of fish.

Leeds’ pursuit of Krstovic from Lecce seems futile, with the attacker keen to stay in Serie A.

It would make sense for the West Yorkshire outfit to move to another target and give Farke a new centre-forward before pre-season ends.

The Whites will face Manchester United in Stockholm on 19 July, as the German manager begins preparations for next season.
