Leeds United: Ben Jacobs issues permanent Max Wober transfer update at Borussia Monchengladbach

Leeds United loanee Max Wober will return to Elland Road at the end of the season, with Borussia Monchengladbach unable to make his move permanent.

That is according to Ben Jacobs, with the journalist suggesting that his temporary club cannot afford the player.

Wober, who is on a season-long loan at Monchengladbach, has made 23 appearances in all competitions this season.

“Leeds have a lot of incentive to focus on football and get back into the Premier League,” Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT (19 March). “Then, the strategy will be more apparent.

“As far as Wober is concerned, with no option for Monchengladbach to buy, and if Leeds were to sell, them wanting, at minimum, their money back, and probably a little bit more, it’s not going to be in the German club’s financial capability to make that permanent offer.

“So, the expectation is that he’ll return to Leeds, and by the time he comes back, it’ll be clear whether Leeds will be in the Championship or Premier League. At that point, we’ll know a whole lot more.”

Where will Leeds United loanee Max Wober be playing next season?

Leeds experienced a massive shakeup last summer following their relegation from the Premier League, with several senior players leaving Elland Road, either temporarily or permanently.

Defensive ace Wober was in the former category, with the 26-year-old opting to move to the Bundesliga for the new campaign.

He has settled in well there, playing in the league and the cup, both at centre-back and left-back thanks to his versatility.

But in his absence, Leeds have been very strong, with Daniel Farke building a talented squad at Elland Road.

That squad, which boasts plenty of top defenders, are now sitting at the very top of the Championship table, and look certain to return to the Premier League.

If they do, Wober and his fellow loanees will be in an interesting position, with the Elland Road faithful perhaps not wanting such players back next season, as they would clearly only be interested in playing top flight football, having not helped the club in the second division.

In other Leeds United news, Wilfried Gnonto will be fuming after an official announcement was made recently.
