Leeds United ‘badly’ want striker signing, forward could return to Elland Road
Leeds United may have to settle without a new signing before the transfer deadline with Jack Harrison potentially returning, according to Ian Herbert.
Herbert’s report for Mail Online (28 January) indicates PSR ruling is holding Leeds back from fulfilling their shopping list before the 3 February deadline.
Harrison, who has endured a difficult time back on loan with Everton in the Premier League, could return if new arrivals cannot come in.
Herbert said: “They badly want a striker – Monday night [0-0 draw against Burnley] revealed why – and also seek a left-back, centre-back, central midfielder and winger.
“If they had to put it all on one, it would be a striker, but PSR means they could end up with none. Aston Villa’s Emi Buendia didn’t want to go to Leeds, preferring Bayer Leverkusen on loan. Brighton’s Julio Enciso preferred a loan move to Ipswich.
“Jack Harrison, shot on confidence after a torrid period on loan at Everton, may be the one heading to Leeds.”
Leeds United fans to be disappointed if window yields no deals
Leeds United maintain a star-studded array of players for Championship level, but are so confident of achieving promotion this season that they want to sign long-term players for the top flight.
In the meantime, players such as Buendia and Enciso would give the Whites a massive boost, yet Daniel Farke’s poker face of being content with his squad has remained.
However, Farke would undoubtedly like to strengthen given the opportunities. With some sides around them vying for promotion having spent decent amounts, they would like to keep pace as the games become increasingly vital.
The goalless stalemate at Burnley on Monday (27 January) was a bore draw which could well be beneficial come the end of the campaign, but one can’t help but think another attacking weapon could have tilted the game their way.

Joel Piroe is certainly capable but inconsistent, and Mateo Joseph is still learning his trade at this level.
Leeds remain active in the market but could be set back by the ever-frustrating PSR constraints.
