Leeds United backed to land Brahima Diarra coup over Leicester and Burnley as perfect fit
Brahima Diarra has been warned off a move to Leicester City in favour of joining Leeds United on a free transfer during the transfer window by Carlton Palmer.
The pundit told Football League World (30 July) that the Whites could be a “great fit” for the former Huddersfield youngster, especially if Crysencio Summerville or Willy Gnonto leave.
According to Foot Mercato on 26 July Leeds are in the race for the 21-year-old alongside the Foxes, Burnley and Hull, as well as clubs in Europe.
Palmer said: “I know Premier League clubs are coming in, but you don’t want to be going to a club like Leicester, where you’re going to be sat on the bench and, eventually, in the January transfer window, you’re going to go out on loan. So you want to go to a club where you can do well.
“Burnley are going to be at the top end of the table, Leeds are going to be at the top end of the table after they just missed out on getting promotion last season. Hull you would expect to be in the top six, so any one of those football clubs would be a good move for him.
“I think maybe Leeds would be a great fit for him, and we know that there’s still some business to be done at Leeds United. There could be people like Gnonto and Summerville who may be set to leave, so you know Leeds United are going to be in that race next season.
“There will be options for Diarra but it would be seen as a coup for any of those clubs if they manage to get his services.
“I’d like to see him at Leeds where I think he could have a really big impact and the fans would take to him with his exciting style of play.”
Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville wanted from Leeds
Diarra is expected to choose his next move after his participation in the Paris Olympics and after 41 Championship appearances over the past two seasons with the Terriers he could be an attractive option for Daniel Farke.
The German’s central midfielders were impressive last term but didn’t add much in terms of attacking output or goals, and with Glen Kamara and Archie Gray both gone the Malian might help in the centre, with another signing planned after the Finn’s sale to Rennes [Leeds Live, 13 July].
He can also play out wide so he could also provide support in those areas amid interest in both Gnonto and Summerville.
Everton appear to have gone cold on the Italian [Football Transfers, 29 July] and Leeds United are set to see off West Ham for the Dutchman [talkSPORT, 30 July] but a lot could still change closer to the deadline.

Farke has seen a large number of players leave his squad this summer on permanent moves so will still need to add depth on top of the likes of loanee Joe Rothwell and those who have returned from temporary moves last term.
And on a free transfer after leaving Huddersfield this summer it could be a very useful bargain signing if the Whites can get to the head of the queue.
In other Leeds United news, a loanee that has only just returned still reportedly would prefer to leave the club.
