No thanks

Leeds need to sign a new central midfielder or two in the January transfer window based on what we’ve seen this season so far.

Kalvin Phillips still isn’t a player you can rely on to play in 38 Premier League matches a season while Tyler Roberts, Mateusz Klich and Rodrigo are not good enough to be played regularly in the midfield for a team in the top-flight of England football.

Barkley is someone with a wealth of top-flight experience to his name.

The ex-Everton player has made 227 Premier League appearances in his career and has also been capped 33 times by England.

However, he’s someone who’s struggled to be consistent in his career and has also had numerous issues with injuries.

Marcelo Bielsa’s famed style caused players to be more susceptible to injuries so we shouldn’t be touching Barkley with a barge pole, to be frank.

He’s also on a lot of money with the Telegraph reporting he pockets £110,000-a-week on his deal at Chelsea.

We can sign better players than Barkley.

But we really do need a new central midfielder in January because we’re in a fight against relegation based on what we’ve seen so far this season.

In other Leeds United news, there have been new complications in this Leeds player’s bid to get back to fitness.
