Leeds United and Leicester City eye move for Anselmo Garcia McNulty
Leeds United are showing interest in signing Anselmo Garcia McNulty from PEC Zwolle alongside Leicester City and Club Brugge, according to AS.
The Whites still don’t know what division they will play in next season after a 4-0 rout at the hands of QPR last time out means their hopes of automatic promotion to the Premier League hang in the balance.
Daniel Farke and his recruitment team are still clearly planning who they might want to add to the squad, though, with 21-year-old Sevilla-born centre-back McNulty said to be on their radar.
In a report for Spanish outlet AS, journalist Ignacio Camacho reported that the Foxes – newly crowned Championship champions – and Belgian outfit Brugge are also keeping tags on the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international.
Should Leeds United sign Anselmo Garcia McNulty?
At 21 years old, McNulty has already had footballing educations in Germany and the Netherlands, while also playing for the Republic of Ireland youth setup.
He has had a positive season in the Eredivisie with Zwolle after joining permanently in the summer after a loan spell with NAC Breda.
His side are safely midtable thanks in part to the defensive showings of the versatile defender this season.
McNulty is a defensively solid left-back who can also play centrally and likes to get stuck in and win a tackle, while also getting above his man to win a header.
Junior Firpo has been the preferred option for Farke at left-back and he is a player who likes to get forward as evidenced by his two assists against Middlesbrough in a 4-3 thriller this month.

Should they sign McNulty, they will have an option who likes to defend, which could be beneficial for games against tougher opposition.
It is unclear as to how much he would cost but with age on his side, he could be a clever signing by Leeds. The move could be affected by whether they are in the Premier League or Championship, however.
