Leeds United agree smaller Luis Sinisterra exit fee in Bournemouth transfer twist

Leeds United have agreed a £20million deal to sell Luis Sinisterra to Bournemouth – a smaller fee than the option to buy clause included in his loan deal, according to the Daily Echo.

The newspaper reported via their website on 8 February that agreeing to a smaller transfer fee has seen the Cherries guarantee the funds for Leeds.

Sinisterra made 26 appearances for the Elland Road club after arriving in 2022, scoring eight goals, but will now make the permanent switch to Bournemouth upon the expiry of his loan deal.

Elland Road exit felt inevitable for Luis Sinisterra

It was said when the Colombian departed Elland Road, Phil Hay shared that the winger had left on bad terms with the fans and staff and a return would be “impossible”, recent reports, however, claimed a return was on the cards despite all of the drama surrounding his exit.

That has all been resolved now, though, with a permanent switch to the South Coast secured, and Leeds pocketing a £20million fee along with it. The guarantee of those funds now will have come as an extra boost.

Given their current Championship status, it is important for Leeds to maximise their income – be it through player sales or other means – so a guaranteed fee from Bournemouth will provide some security on those terms.

The initial loan deal included an option to buy, although it remained Bournemouth’s decision, so there was never any promise on Leeds’ end that they would receive the money.

Since moving to Bournemouth, the winger had faced a slow start to his spell after struggling with injuries but has now made 17 appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
