Leeds United agree personal terms to sign Nadiem Amiri after confusion emerges from Germany
Leeds United have agreed personal terms with Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nadiem Amiri after he completed a shock U-turn, report Kicker.
Writing on their official website (24 August), the German news outlet report that Amiri initially rejected a move to Elland Road as he wanted to move to Marseille instead, something that was also relayed by Florian Plettenberg.
However after the French club dropped their interest, the 26-year-old has now agreed a four-year deal with Leeds and a deal could move quickly.

“The departure of Nadiem Amiri from Leverkusen is imminent. After a lot of back and forth, the midfielder, who was also very interested in Olympique Marseille, has agreed to join Leeds United,” they wrote.
“Nadiem Amiri is about to make a move from Bayer 04 Leverkusen to Leeds United. According to kicker information, the player has promised the club from former Gladbach Bundesliga coach Daniel Farke. The 26-year-old is said to have signed a four-year contract with the Premier League relegated team.
“That should end the confusion surrounding Amiri’s future. On Wednesday, kicker reported that Amiri was hesitating with his commitment, on Thursday it was reported that Amiri had canceled the English. But according to kicker information, the opposite is the case: Amiri said yes to Leeds’ offer.”
Wow
What a whirlwind of a morning for Leeds when it comes to the signing of Amiri at Elland Road.
It was revealed by Fabrizio Romano that the club were in for him on Wednesday night, only for the player to reject the move initially as he preferred a top level move to Marseille.

But they’ve now dropped out and he’s agreed to come to Leeds, which will come as a huge boost to Daniel Farke as he looks to bolster the midfield area of his squad after losing Tyler Adams.
They’re very different players, but numbers are just as important and Farke will know his strengths well and he now has another player he was keen to bring in.
Fans may not know much about him and he won’t be the most popular immediately after initially rejecting the move, but he’s clearly keen to play football regularly and he will add quality. So it’s a thumbs up from us.
