Leeds United agree personal terms for Bijol deal as transfer priority emerges

Leeds United could soon have their first signing of the ongoing transfer window in Udinese centre-back Jaka Bijol.

The Whites undoubtedly need to add more depth to their squad after winning promotion to the Premier League, and the backline is one area that should be addressed.

Bijol has emerged as a target at Elland Road, with the Serie A setting a price tag of a little over £16million for the 26-year-old centre-back.

A massive development has emerged in the race for the Slovenia international’s signature, with the West Yorkshire outfit poised to get a deal over the line.

Bijol a top priority for Leeds United as personal terms agreed

Bijol is one of the Whites’ top priorities this summer as they look to reinforce their squad, according to Sports Zone.

The news outlet, which is followed by the likes of GiveMeSport correspondent Ben Jacobs and The Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg on X, revealed (7 June) that the 26-year-old has agreed personal terms with the West Yorkshire outfit.

Bijol’s record at Udinese this season.

It’s been claimed that AC Milan and Inter Milan, along with AS Roma, are monitoring the Slovenian defender’s situation closely after developments at Elland Road.

Farke will arguably be desperate for new signings, and it’s encouraging to see the Peacocks closing in on their first signing early on in the window.

Farke must ask for more defensive signings at Elland Road

Farke suffered a big blow after Pascal Struijk’s injury towards the end of the season, but Leeds managed to get over the line in the end, winning the Championship title.

The Dutch defender and Joe Rodon were the key to the Whites’ success as they sealed their return to the Premier League after a two-year absence.

While Ethan Ampadu was influential for the West Yorkshire outfit towards the end of the campaign, his consistent fitness issues make him unreliable.

Max Wober was an option for Leeds this season, but the Austria international’s exit may be on the cards after struggling for regular minutes.

Bijol has been a key player for Udinese for several seasons now and played a big part as the Italian club finished 12th in Serie A.

The 26-year-old is also highly experienced, having played 62 times for his national team, and also seems to have an eye for a goal.

With the Whites needing to cope with the hectic schedule of the Premier League next season, they must add more options for Farke.

Paraag Marathe needs to give the German manager the tools to avoid immediate relegation from the top flight, and Bijol’s signing would seemingly be a step in the right direction.
