Leeds United agree club-record fee to sign Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord, medical due

Leeds United are paying a club-record fee to sign Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord, according to 90min.

The football news website reported on Wednesday (6 July) that the Whites have reached a £25million with the Eredivisie giants, who have been Sinisterra’s club for the last four years.

Although 90min claim that the 23-year-old Colombia international “is set to become Leeds’ club-record signing” at £25million, Rodrigo was reported to have signed for the Yorkshire giants from Valencia in 2020 for a fee worth £27million.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds are paying add-ons on top of that £25million fee.

90min add that Sinisterra, as well as RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams, is due to undergo a medical with Leeds United and is expected to join up with Jesse Marsch’s squad before they jet out for their pre-season tour of Australia on 10 July.

Club record?

Based on the figures of previous transfers, the £25million fee reported by 90min won’t be a club record for Leeds.

Daniel James is costing up to £30million with add-ons [The Times] and, as mentioned earlier, Rodrigo has already cost more than £25million.

There could be some truth in it if there are add-ons and bonuses to pay on top of that £25million fee but to be a true club record, it must at least surpass the £30million mark.

And it just doesn’t seem as though that will be the case.

Sinisterra looks like a good player.

Leeds United

He’s relatively young at the age of 23 and he’s been in incredible form in the Netherlands with Rotterdam-based Feyenoord.

The former Once Caldas attacker scored 23 goals and supplied 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions for the Eredivisie giants with 11 of them coming in European football.

Sinisterra, who plays mainly on the left-wing but can also feature on the right or as a striker, scored against the likes of Union Berlin, Partizan Belgrade, Slavia Prague and Marseille to help Feyenoord reach the Europa Conference League final, where they lost to Roma.

Let’s hope he can continue his red-hot scoring streak at Leeds if he does sign.

He’ll be joining Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Darko Gyabi and, soon, Adams is joining Leeds as Victor Orta continues his summer signing blitz.

In other Leeds United news, this international player is itching to join a club in the Premier League with the Whites hot on his trail.
