Leeds United eye Chris Mepham as Daniel Farke set for January transfer blitz
Leeds United admire Bournemouth defender Chris Mepham as Daniel Farke is set for a busy January transfer window, according to Alex Crook.
Speaking to GiveMeSport on Monday (8 January), the talkSPORT journalist said he’s been told the Whites are going to be “quite ambitious” this month despite the German boss indicating that he’s happy with his squad.
Crook revealed on talkSPORT on 29 December that the West Yorkshire club are also interested in winger David Brooks, Mepham’s teammate for both the Cherries and Wales, as they could be “a lot more active” than Farke is letting on.

“It’s interesting because the manager said they’re not going to do much to this window because he’s happy with his squad,” said Crook. “But I’ve been told by people actually they’re going to be quite ambitious. They think they’ve got a great chance of getting in the Premier League, so they’re going to go for it.
“You mentioned David Brooks, Chris Mepham of Bournemouth is someone else I think they admire. Having sent Djed Spence back, you’d have thought they’ve got a full-back lined up.
“So I think Leeds might be a lot more active than Daniel Farke is laying on.”
Depth
There is no doubt that Leeds do have an excellent squad at their disposal and that there are plenty of quality players in the group.
But the fact of the matter is, that is also the case for several of their promotion rivals this season, so any business they can get done during this window could provide them with an edge by the time May comes around.
Although the automatic spots are currently looking like a stretch, second-place Ipswich Town have been faltering over the past few weeks, meaning it could become wide open before too long.

It may not look as though there are too many places available in the Whites’ starting lineup at the moment, but extra depth could ensure they’re ready for whatever the second half of the season throws at them.
With centre-back Pascal Struijk struggling through injury over the past few weeks, a move for the 26-year-old Mepham could be a solid addition as the Whites may look to add to their growing list of Welsh players.
In other Leeds United news, an Elland Road exit has been confirmed on Instagram.
