Leeds United ace Joe Gelhardt sends message as transfer confirmed
Joe Gelhardt has sent a message to former Leeds United team-mate Sam Greenwood after his move to Bristol City was confirmed.
Gelhardt and Greenwood were both players who were tipped to have bright futures at Elland Road but things have not panned out as hoped.
Greenwood, 24, struggled for regular first-team football and had loan spells with Middlesbrough and Preston.
The forward joined Polish side Pogoń Szczecin on a three-year deal in August 2025.
But he is now already back in England, and is preparing for a new venture with the Robins in the second tier.

Greenwood only scored one professional goal for Leeds, after impressing at Under-23 level.
He netted five and seven in his respective spells with Middlesbrough and Preston, before bagging three league goals for Pogon last term.
Bristol City announced Greenwood's transfer on Thursday, and he posted a picture of his official contract signing on Instagram.
Gelhardt, who himself spent last season away from Elland Road as he helped Hull City earn promotion to the Premier League, replied in the posts to say: "Greeeny (sic)" and a love heart emoji.
Greenwood is clearly popular with his ex-teammates. Former Leeds favourite Luke Ayling, now with Boro, was among those to reply to the post.
Hayden Hackney, once linked with Leeds, and Josh Coburn also sent their well wishes to Greenwood.
What's the latest on Joe Gelhardt's future?
When Leeds signed Gelhardt from Wigan in 2020, there was hopes that he would become a star at Elland.
Despite his early promise, Gelhardt has never really been able to establish himself at Elland Road.
He had a temporary stint with Sunderland in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign, and first had a loan spell with Hull in January 2025.
Gelhardt returned to the MKM Stadium for the 2025/26 campaign, and bagged 15 goals in all competitions.
There have been suggestions that Hull will look to complete a full transfer for Gelhardt, who is likely deemed surplus to requirements by the Whites.
