Leeds United ace Georginio Rutter-Brighton update emerges amid fresh twist
Brighton tabled a bid for Leeds United attacker Georginio Rutter in the region of £30million, according to Adam Pope.
The BBC journalist cited LeedsLive’s Beren Cross who claimed that the Whites turned down the offer made by the Premier League side.
It’s understood that the bid was made by the Seagulls after they had completed the signing of Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle for a similar amount.
Via Twitter, Pope wrote: “As per Beren Cross Utd reject £30m offer for Rutter after previously showing interest in Summerville. Bid apparently came in after Brighton had signed Minteh for similar amount.”
Leeds United must look to make a significant profit on Georginio Rutter
Leeds must aim to make a significant profit on Rutter as he is a young and talented player who has shown promise during his time at Elland Road, despite the club’s relegation to the Championship.
His potential has attracted interest from Premier League clubs like Brighton, indicating that his market value is on the rise.
The Whites invested a club-record fee of £36million [BBC] to sign Rutter from Hoffenheim in January 2023.
To justify this significant outlay, the club needs to recoup a substantial portion of this investment, if not make a profit on his sale.
A significant profit would not only help Leeds balance their books but also demonstrate their ability to develop and sell young talents for substantial fees.
Moreover, the rejection of Brighton’s initial £30million bid suggests that Leeds value Rutter highly and believe that his market value could increase further.
