Leeds transfer chief jets out, Genk star likely on their radar ahead of January

Leeds United may have had their eyes on a Genk player in the Europa League recently.

The Belgian outfit lost 1-0 to Midtjylland at the MCH Arena on 11 December, with scouts from the Whites present in Denmark.

Daniel Farke will be hoping to be backed at Elland Road in January, but it remains to be seen who the West Yorkshire outfit will target to strengthen their squad.

The Peacocks are battling Premier League relegation right now, and 49ers Enterprises should give the German manager the right tools to achieve that goal.

Leeds United scout present at Midtjylland vs Genk

In the last six months, plenty of officials from top teams have been present at the MCH Arena.

Scouts from the likes of Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Liverpool and Manchester United have paid multiple visits to Midtjylland’s home in recent weeks.

Journalist Oliver Okstrom revealed on X on 15 December that the Whites had their representatives present as Midtjylland faced Genk, and their attendance could’ve potentially been down to a player from the Belgian outfit.

There isn’t any indication of who the West Yorkshire outfit were specifically watching, and the developments will certainly be worth keeping an eye on.

Midtjylland’s Franculino Dju has been previously linked with a move to Elland Road, but who the Genk player is will be interesting to see.

Daniel Farke has one January transfer priority at Elland Road

Farke has suffered a blow with Lukas Nmecha’s injury, and the forward’s absence has come at a time when he was forming a brilliant partnership with Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Noah Okafor has started up front with the former Everton striker in the German manager’s new 5-3-2 formation in recent matches, but something seems to be missing from the front line at Leeds.

Depending on how long Nemcha will be out for, it would make sense for Farke to prioritise the addition of a new number nine in the winter transfer window, with Joel Piroe seemingly not trusted.

January could potentially make or break the Whites’ season, and fans will surely want to see some incomings at Elland Road soon.
