Leeds to unlock new signings for Daniel Farke as multi-million transfer agreed

Daniel Farke will be anxious to sign some new players in LS11.

Leeds have been linked with several names in January, but no player has joined or left the Elland Road outfit just yet.

Farke deserves his flowers for Leeds’ recent run of form, and as they sit eight points clear of the relegation zone, additions to the squad could be enough to secure Premier League safety with relative ease.

Fans are beginning to feel frustrated with the lack of activity, although Jack Harrison’s imminent move to Fiorentina could allow for chairman Paraag Marathe to sanction some new signings.

Jack Harrison deal could help Leeds sign new players

Harrison was linked with a Leeds exit after a disappointing start to the season, and a move to Fiorentina is now set to go through.

The Telegraph journalist Adonis Storr has reported that Harrison is on his way to Fiorentina to join them on a six-month loan deal.

There is also an option to buy him for £8.7million (€10m) at the end of the season, and although that money may not come in now, his January exit leaves Leeds with a gap to fill in the squad.

Harrison went to Everton on loan for two years while Leeds were in the Championship, and only came back to the side after Farke’s men secured promotion at the end of last season.

Leeds beat Derby 3-1 in the FA Cup third round on Sunday, but Harrison was massively off the pace, and he is yet to register a goal contribution since returning to LS11.

The 29-year-old’s deliveries into the box were far from accurate, and it summed up his lack of quality in the final third.

The English winger simply isn’t good enough, and Leeds will be praying that he can hit the ground running in Italy.

Ruben Vargas could be the first man to replace him

Ruben Vargas has been linked with a January move to Leeds, with reports emerging that they could pay £8.7m for him.

Tottenham and Aston Villa are also monitoring the Swiss forward, although no formal bids have been made for the 27-year-old.

Vargas is traditionally a left-winger, and given Farke’s 3-5-2 tactic, it would take time for him to adapt to playing centrally.

Although he is not a natural fit for the style of play, his goal threat could render him an effective option, and if Farke reverts to a 4-3-3 formation, he would slot in with ease.

A cause for concern is that the 27-year-old has been out with a hamstring injury since mid-November.

Although he won’t be match-fit if he does make the move in January, he looks to be the most likely attacker to join the Whites in the coming weeks.
