Leeds table offer to sign PL player – Dharmesh Sheth
Leeds United have tabled an offer to sign Daniel James on loan from Manchester United, according to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
It has been widely reported that Marcelo Bielsa wants to add a new winger to his squad before the transfer window slams shut and James, 22, is someone who has reportedly emerged on the Leeds manager’s radar.
Sheth has now claimed that Jadon Sancho’s potential arrival at Man United could push James down the pecking order with an offer to take him on loan currently on the table from Leeds.
“One player who could be impacted by an arrival is Daniel James,” said Sheth via Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre on Monday [05:35pm].
“He wants to stay and fight for his place – but knows he will be pushed down the pecking order if Sancho or another player was to arrive.
“Leeds United remain interested having made an offer to take him on loan.”
The Athletic’s Phil Hay has previously mentioned that James is a “genuine” target for Leeds United in the final stages of the current transfer window and a lot of fans have taken to Twitter to express their support for a move for the Wales international.
Leeds already have one domestic loan spot filled up with Jack Harrison still at Elland Road on temporary terms from Manchester City and if James was to arrive on loan, he would be the last loanee who the Whites bring in from a fellow English club.
And although the Whites have up until October 16 to sign players from fellow Premier League clubs and clubs in the EFL, they only have until October 5 to sign players from outside of England.
Although a deal for James wouldn’t be directly affected by that, Man United would not be able to sign Sancho from Dortmund after next Monday.
If that doesn’t happen then the hopes of signing James are going to take a massive hit.
If Leeds are going to finally sign James, they are going to have to do it within the coming days.
