Leeds United have tabled a stunning new bid to sign Dinamo Zagreb centre-back Josko Gvardiol, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Sky Sports Italia journalist reported via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night that Leeds have offered £19.9million to sign the 18-year-old defender while also adding a 20 per cent sell-on clause in the deal as a sweetener.
It is understood that Dinamo want £22.6million for the Croatia Under-21 international and although RB Leipzig have also tabled a bid, their offer is only £13.5million.
Leeds have submitted a new bid to sign Josko Gvardiol: €22m + 20% percentage on future sale. Dinamo Zagreb asked for €25m as price tag. Also RB Leipzig are in the race but made a lower bid [around €15m]. ⚪️ #LUFC #transfers @DiMarzio

If Dinamo turn this bid down then they are mad.
While we have a lot of faith in Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta to sign the right players in this transfer window, offering that much money for an 18-year-old with very limited first-team experience seems like a massive risk.
Gvardiol has just 13 senior appearances to his name in his entire career so Orta and his scouts must have seen some major potential in the teenager to warrant bidding so highly for him.
Bielsa could do with another centre-back adding to his squad but it just seems crazy that Gvardiol is going to end up costing way more than Germany international Robin Koch did when he joined the Whites earlier in the transfer window.
As we said, we have a lot of faith in Bielsa and Orta.
If they feel they’re getting a good deal then we do too but you have to say that the club is rolling the dice a bit here.
