Leeds submit another striker offer as hunt for hitman continues – report

Leeds United are not giving up on their pursuit of Che Adams, despite some negative noises coming from the Southampton end.

After having their first offer turned down, Leeds have made an improved bid for the striker and, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, have not had this officially rejected yet.

The club might get its answer very soon, though.

Leeds Live claimed that Ralph Hasenhuttl sat down with the Southampton board on Monday and that the decisions made there will “filter down” to Leeds.

Hasenhuttl wants the player to stay – he’s made that clear in two statements now.

Jim White said on Monday morning that he had been told that Southampton were set to back their manager and block the move.

Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross has said that the Leeds board is ready to move on to other targets if they don’t get a positive message back from Southampton.

The January window is only just over two weeks away from closing now and Marcelo Bielsa has said the club wanted a striker in as soon as possible.

In an ideal world, this would happen before the QPR game on Saturday, although it’s unlikely that any signing would start.

Marcelo Bielsa likes to train extensively with any new signings before letting them loose in his system, although with no back-up options to Patrick Bamford, we could see a new signing making the bench if fitness isn’t an issue.

Adams has been playing for Southampton in the Premier League.

How much longer can Leeds afford to push on the Adams’ deal? That’s the big question at the moment, although they obviously haven’t had a definitive answer yet. And while there’s hope…
