Leeds stance on missing out on Jorgen Strand Larsen emerges as Crystal Palace seal blockbuster deal
Leeds United missed out on the deadline day signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen to Crystal Palace.
Leeds were linked to Strand Larsen as he looked destined to leave Wolves before the January window came to an end.
Daniel Farke’s side were forced to fight it out with Crystal Palace to sign Strand Larsen, who ultimately completed a move to Selhurst Park.
There was last-gasp hope of completing a deal when Jean-Philippe Mateta’s move to AC Milan fell through, but it didn’t matter in the end.
The Whites now have to regroup and assess their winter business, with their stance now revealed after Strand Larsen was announced at Crystal Palace.
Leeds United stance after Jorgen Strand Larsen transfer miss
Strand Larsen was an opportunistic option for the Whites as his time at Molineux looked destined to come to a mid-season end.
The Old Gold looked destined for relegation and are preparing their side for the second tier, so selling a £48million asset seemed wise.

Leeds were in the race to sign the Norway international, but with Palace announcing the deal as the January deadline passed, their chances were dashed.
There will be questions now of how the Whites can assess their window having missed out on the 25-year-old, but it appears that they are comfortable.
That comes from The Athletic’s Beren Cross, who has suggested that the Whites are content with the squad they’ve been left with after deadline day.
The journalist wrote: “The transfer window has closed. Leeds United end it with the effective trade of Facundo Buonanotte for Jack Harrison.
“Jorgen Strand Larsen was a swing they wanted to take, but Crystal Palace took the price away from them. They are happy to roll with what they have.“
Leeds had no chance to sign Strand Larsen on deadline day
Unfortunately for Farke and Co., it appears that the race for the Norweigan was in Palace’s court moving into the final day of the window.
The idea that Mateta’s failed medical at San Siro acted as a boost wasn’t necessarily true due to the lack of time remaining in the window.
Even if Palace had called it quits on Strand Larsen, the striker would have likely found himself remaining at Wolves until the end of the season.
Leeds had to hope for that eventuality so they could be open to a summer deal, but that doesn’t appear to be on the cards right now.
The only plus is that the LS11 outfit are said to be happy with their squad and that is all they could hope for coming into the window.
