Leeds set to table £3.8m bid to sign South American attacker – report
Leeds United are set to table a bid worth £3.8million for Lanus winger Pedro De La Vega, according to Ole.
The Argentinean news outlet reports that Serie A club Atalanta are also interested in the 19-year-old attacker while Inter Milan and Genoa have also been linked with potential £7.6million moves for him.
However, it seems that Leeds are keen to steal a march on the Italian sides by making a “concrete offer” for the Argentina Under-20 international.
Last season saw De Le Vega earn 34 appearances in all competitions for Argentine club Lanus, scoring five goals in the process.
Goal reported in January that De La Vega is seen as a potential successor for Lionel Messi as Argentina’s footballing hero, adding that he is “already becoming a household name” in his home country.
While he’s played mainly as a winger for Lanus and Argentina’s Under-20s, De La Vega is extremely versatile for his age.
The teenager rose through the ranks of youth football playing as a right-back while he has also been played in the midfield.
However, it is his performances on the wings that have gained the most attention with Goal adding that De La Vega’s footwork, passing ability and finishes have led to him being dubbed as a right-footed version of Angel Di Maria.
It is hard to not get excited by a player who’s been talk about so highly in Argentina but, then again, the South American nation is a breeding ground for some of the best talents in world football.
De La Vega would be a very nice addition for Leeds, especially if Lanus accept their offer of £3.8million, which could be a bargain considering how highly spoken of he is.
In other Leeds United news, it’s been confirmed that one Leeds transfer is all but done.
