Leeds set to reinvest in attacking talent as Raphinha exit talk grows - report
Leeds United are planning to reinvest any cash made from the sale of first-team stars this summer as Victor Orta anticipates a restructure, according to i.
The Whites have been linked with losing their top stars after a season which has seen them scrambling for their Premier League safety.
With Raphinha linked with a money-spinning move to Barcelona [Sport] and Kalvin Phillips linked with a £60m move away, the club are planning to reinvest any cash on their attack.
Raphinha certainly seems the more likely to leave the club, meaning a new star attacker will be needed to supplement his exit and replace him.
‘I’ say that Orta is expecting a busy summer because of potential exits, knowing he will need to restructure the squad and bring in players to bolster Jesse Marsch’s side ahead of the new campaign.
The ideal scenario is obviously that Raphinha and Phillips sign new contracts at Elland Road and stay to live happily ever after, but that’s unlikely.
So the next best thing is that one of them leaves and the club uses all the cash on finding an adequate replacement for them, as well as strengthening the squad elsewhere.
For all his flaws, Orta usually does very well in the transfer market and fans can now look forward to the summer window knowing that there is a plan in place.
Brendan Aaronson has been linked as a potential summer arrival to boost the attack, while greater depth to cover for the injuries they’ve suffered this season would be a big plus too.
It seems as though there is a plan in place however and fans can’t be anything but pleased with hearing that news, considering it’s set to be such a huge summer for the club.
