Leeds set sights on signing Red Bull star with ‘immense potential’

Leeds United are eyeing a move for Jhon Jhon, who is currently competing for Red Bull Bragantino in the Brazilian league.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed in his home country and has made 29 appearances for Bragantino in the league to date, scoring eight goals and registering five assists.

With Leeds are in need of quality additions, with stars such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin being letdowns at Elland Road since their move in the summer.

Now, Daniel Farke could now look to the Peacocks’ connections with Red Bull to try and bring Jhon to the Premier League.

Leeds looking at Jhon Jhon ahead of the January transfer window

According to Leeds United News on 13 November, in conversations between Red Bull and the Peacocks, Jhon’s name has come up.

While Leeds aren’t the only ones looking at the youngster, it is believed that he ticks plenty of boxes.

Farke’s side have been woeful in front of goal at Elland Road this season, and the manager may be looking at the attacking midfielder to solve this issue, as well as add more creativity to the team.

While Jhon’s name is not well known in Europe, there have been plenty of players to successfully make the transition from the Brazilian Serie A to the Premier League in recent times, including Estevao and Gabriel Jesus.

What has been said about Jhon?

In Brazil, praise for Jhon has been high to date.

The upcoming midfielder is believed to have plenty of potential who could one day be a big star.

When discussing Jhon on 26 February 2024, his former manager, Abel Ferreira, who is currently the Palmeries coach did not hold back his praise for the youngster.

He told Ge: “He has immense potential. He dribbles, takes risks, and that’s why he’s going to miss passes, but I say: that’s how it’s supposed to be. Because when those passes start going in, he’ll be a player who can reach the top in the world.”

Now, the task for Leeds is to ensure that they are able to win the race for the upcoming star as they look to survive the Premier League drop.
