Leeds ready to table bid to sign £12m-rated striker who scored on Saturday - reports

Leeds United are ready to table a bid to sign Celtic centre-forward Leigh Griffiths, according to the Daily Star.

Sky Sports reported on Wednesday that Leeds have seen a third bid for Che Adams rejected by Southampton but it now seems as though the Whites are moving onto other targets as they aim to supply Marcelo Bielsa with a new striker.

The Daily Star claims that Britt Assombalonga and Griffiths, 29, are options for the Championship giants, who have just one out-and-out striker in their senior squad in Patrick Bamford after Eddie Nketiah was recalled by Arsenal at the start of the month.

Scotland international Griffiths looks set to drop down the pecking order at Celtic Park after Neil Lennon signed Patryk Klimala last week and a Leeds bid is now reportedly being prepared.

Griffiths scored his fourth goal of the season on Saturday when the Bhoys won 2-1 against Partick Thistle in the Scottish FA Cup.

He has not been a regular this term for the Glaswegians, starting just once in the Scottish Premiership and Kilmala’s arrival could make it even tougher for him to earn game-time.

Football Insider has recently reported that despite Griffiths not being quite in the picture at Celtic Park, the Scottish giants want up to £12million for the former Wolves striker.

Leeds are unlikely to come anywhere near to matching that so it will be interesting to find out what kind of bid they are readying as they pursue the Parkhead forward.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been handed a killer blow in their pursuit of this Spanish forward.
