Leeds ‘ready to step in’ for Igor Paixao as serious new transfer update emerges

Leeds United have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Igor Paixao this summer.

The Whites have accelerated their efforts in the summer transfer window, with less than a month to go before the Premier League returns.

Leeds’ new arrivals were given the chance to showcase their ability in their goalless pre-season game against Manchester United (19 July), with Sean Longstaff one of the stand-outs on the day.

However, the West Yorkshire club are still looking for a goalkeeper, with Daniel Farke also interested in adding a winger to his team.

As a result, Paixao has been high up on Leeds’ list of priorities this summer.

Leeds are ready to trump Marseille’s bid for Paixao

Leeds thought their dream for Paixao was slipping away when Marseille joined the race for his signature. However, all signs now point towards him arriving at Elland Road this summer.

Marseille could see their lead for Paixao threatened. Feyenoord are unimpressed with both offers presented by the French giants and are still holding out for more than £26million.

As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post (via Sport.Fr) on Tuesday (22 July), Leeds believe it is possible to intervene with a slightly higher offer to convince the Dutch club, and the Whites are a “serious” contender for Paixao’s signature.

It is understood that Marseille’s president, Pablo Longoria, is beginning to lose patience with Feyenoord, which could give Leeds an important advantage moving forward.

According to Dutch magazine Voetbal International (22 July), the French club are expected to send one final bid by the end of the day. However, the winger is now more likely to remain in the Netherlands than arrive in France this summer.

Leeds must close Paixao’s signing

With tensions mounting between Marseille and Feyenoord, Leeds have been handed a golden chance to agree on a deal for Paixao.

The winger possesses the technical and physical ability to take Farke’s attack to the next level next season. He scored 16 goals and provided 14 assists in 34 appearances in the Eredivisie in 2024/25 and could flourish in the right environment.

Therefore, Leeds will need to accelerate their pursuit of Paixao to guarantee he arrives this summer.
