Leeds ‘ready to sign Anton Stach’ after major Longstaff transfer news

Leeds are closing in on another signing as Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff is set to join, with the Whites now active in the transfer market.

Longstaff could be heading to Elland Road in a deal worth around £12million, and the signings may not stop there.

After an initial slow start to the window, Leeds are now active as they return to pre-season training, and Longstaff may not be the only midfielder coming in.

Hoffenheim star Anton Stach has also been linked with a move, and while Longstaff’s arrival may have signalled an end to this interest, it appears this is far from the case.

Leeds still keen on Stach and Longstaff

Stach is a key player for Hoffenheim, and a versatile midfielder capable of playing several different roles while excelling as a number six.

It has now been reported by journalist Zinny Boswell via X (8 July) that with Longstaff coming in, Leeds are keen on signing Stach alongside him, and have made contact with Hoffenheim over a deal.

Should both arrive, Leeds’ spending so far will exceed £40m, with a deal for left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson on the verge of being agreed.

Stach and Longstaff will both add legs and experience to the midfield alongside Ao Tanaka, as Leeds prepare to return to the Premier League.

Leeds adding quality midfield depth

In Longstaff and Stach, Leeds will be signing two experienced midfielders in their prime years who can make an immediate impact in the squad.

Having both will increase the quality of the first team as well as the bench, and Leeds will certainly need this level of depth as they make the step up to the top flight.

Despite the flurry of spending, Leeds still need to sign a striker and a goalkeeper, but there are positive signs in the defence and midfield that key areas are being addressed, and both Longstaff and Stach are strong additions.

Longstaff will arrive with years of Premier League experience under his belt, while Stach has impressed in the Bundesliga for several different teams.
