Leeds ready to pursue Ladislav Krejci deal as transfer announcement made
Leeds United remain keen on a move for Wolves' Ladislav Krejci.
Signing relegated players often comes at a cost, and that will be the fine line that Leeds have to walk this summer amid links to several Wolves stars.
Hugo and Santiago Bueno have also been mooted for a move to Elland Road, as has Krejci, who has since joined the Championship side on a permanent deal.
Wolves announced the deal via their retained list earlier this week, with the Czechia international joining for £20million from LaLiga side Girona, having paid an initial fee of £6m to bring him in on loan.
But despite that deal only being made official recently, Leeds could yet offer him a return to the Premier League.
Leeds face battle to sign Ladislav Krejci
A report from Liam Keen retiterates Leeds' stance on Krejci, which is that they remain keen on a move this summer.
However, they are just one of several clubs to have shown an interest in the versatile international, who impressed consistantly despite Wolves' relegation.
Krejci featured in 28 of their 38 Premier League encounters last term, with two goals and an assist to his name, and has made 27 appearances for his national team to date.
His ability to play as a centre-back or in midfield is likely to appeal to Daniel Farke, who has shown plenty of attraction to players who are capable in various positions, alebit sometimes to their own detriment.
Krejci transfer could open door for Elland Road exit
Leeds' success last time out stemmed from the change to a back five, which is likely to remain ahead of the new campaign.
And if a deal for Krejci were to be pursued, it would be fair to assume that it would be done so with a view to him being the left-sided defender as part of that.
Pascal Struijk was the go-to option there for the Whites last season, though the Dutchman was exposed from time to time.
The Czechia defender would be an upgrade on Struijk by some margin, and would perhaps open the door for him to leave this summer, given that he has just one year left on his current contract.
