Leeds ready to pay £13m plus bonuses to sign Jack Harrison permanently
Leeds United are set to pay £13million plus bonuses to sign Jack Harrison permanently from Manchester City, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reports that the Whites are triggering an obligation to buy Harrison, 24, after three impressive seasons on loan at Elland Road.
Last month, The Mirror reported that Harrison’s permanent deal will be made official on July 1 and based on this update, it seems as though Leeds may have to continue paying Man City for the winger depending upon how well he does as a full-time player in West Yorkshire.
The Daily Mail claims Man City are planning to sell a large number of players this summer in order to raise £70million to add to Pep Guardiola’s transfer budget.
Harrison is finally going to be a Leeds player
It’s not very often you see a player spent three seasons on loan at a club.
Harrison has already made 128 appearances in all competitions for Leeds, which is unheard considering he’s not even a full-time player for the Whites.
While he frustrated a number of fans in his debut season at Elland Road, it would be fair to say that Marcelo Bielsa has worked his magic on the ex-New York City winger and he’s managed to get better and better each year.
Harrison has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.
In his debut season in the English top-flight, the winger managed to score eight goals and supply eight assists in 36 league appearances.
In comparison, it’s the same number of assists Sadio Mane managed at Liverpool and just three fewer goals.
Harrison has been a brilliant player for Leeds in the last three years and that £13million fee seems like an absolute bargain.
He’s still got his best years ahead of him, he’s English, he knows Bielsa’s system inside out, he’s shown he can improve, he’s shown he can play in the Premier League and he’s been a crucial part of Leeds’ rise from Championship mediocrity to the top half of the top flight.
We cannot wait to see this deal made official.
