Leeds ready 'immoral' offer to sign Georginio Rutter, lightning-quick transfer mooted

Leeds United are preparing an “immoral” bid to snap up Hoffenheim’s French forward Giorginio Rutter in a lightning-quick transfer this January, according to 90min.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Sunday (8 January) that talks between the two parties were “very advanced”, and a fee of around £26 million has been brokered for the 20-year-old.

The striker has only scored two goals and contributed two assists in the Bundesliga so far this season but has appeared on the Whites’ transfer shortlist as an option to bolster their attacking forces in the second half of the season.

According to 90min, Victor Orta is willing to table an offer that will force a “lightning farewell” for Rutter at the German club.

The report said. “Georginio Rutter is an important part of the current, but also long-term plans at TSG Hoffenheim.

“But now there could be a lightning farewell, as Leeds United are supposed to prepare an immoral offer for Rutter.”

Quick progress

Leeds certainly aren’t mucking about in the January transfer window, that’s for sure.

After partly filling their glaring weakness at left-back with the capture of Max Wober, they look to be addressing the major issue of the lack of centre-forwards in their squad with their interest in Rutter.

Orta’s shackles seem to have finally been released by Andrea Radrizzani, and the sporting director is now well underway in improving Leeds’ squad this month.

After signing attacker after attacker who weren’t natural number nines, they have finally landed on a player who can lead the line for Jesse Marsch’s side.

Despite his lack of experience and goals at the high level, he has still managed to net 11 times in 57 Bundesliga appearances, which isn’t bad for a player of his age.

He has represented France at Under-21 level, and if Leeds can snap him up soon, he could be making his debut while other clubs are still scrambling for transfers in the closing stages of the month.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are closely involved in the bidding for an international striker and are even prepared to spend £14million to secure his services.
