Leeds ready bid to sign Ledesma within days in ‘surprise’ transfer swoop

Leeds United could make a proposal to sign Jeremias Ledesma from River Plate in the coming days, according to Soy del Millo.

The Millonarios insider reported on 7 January that the Whites have made a lot of noise and have taken Marcelo Gallardo “by surprise” with their interest in the goalkeeper.

The 31-year-old is on the radar of the Elland Road club who are aware of his lack of game time in Argentina where he is playing second fiddle to Franco Armani.

This could see a bid come in for the Argentine from LS11 in the next few days to change the Nunez team’s resolve.

Leeds United ready January transfer proposal for Jeremias Ledesma at River Plate

It is no surprise to see that the Whites are showing an interest in bringing a new shot-stopper to Elland Road in the January window.

This comes just days after Illan Meslier infuriated supporters and his teammates with a terrible error against Hull City.

This wasn’t the Frenchman’s first mistake of the season and is unlikely to be his last with his mistake against Sunderland arguably being a low point of his spell in Yorkshire.

This could potentially result in a winter exit and would leave Daniel Farke in desperate need of a new goalkeeper option.

Ledesma could represent a positive replacement for the 24-year-old given his experience and his lack of minutes since moving to River Plate.

The 31-year-old has played top-level football in Argentina and Spain and could be the keeper to help earn Leeds promotion to the Premier League this season.

If a deal can be secured with the Liga Profesional side, there is every chance that Meslier is dropped or even sold before the end of the month.

In other Leeds United news, Birmingham City have failed with a last-ditch hijack to win the race to a Yorkshire-bound signing.
