Leeds paperwork yet to be signed ahead of international summer transfer – report
Reports in Argentina are adamant that Leeds United will sign Juan Foyth on a season-long loan in the summer transfer window.
Foyth, 22, has barely kicked a ball for Spurs this season, appearing just seven times in all competitions and starting only one Premier League game.
It does not seem as though the young Argentina international has much of a future in North London, which could be why there’s been so much speculation surrounding a loan move to join Leeds in the summer.
Clarin Sports is the latest to offer an update on Foyth’s reported switch to Elland Road, with them reporting that the loan agreement is as good as done and all that remains is for the concerned parties to sign off on the relevant paperwork.
It suggests that this loan deal is at an advanced stage but as Leeds do not even know what division they’ll be playing in next season and which centre-backs Marcelo Bielsa will have at his disposal, as well as what budget he will have to play around with.
We doubt that Foyth would join Leeds if they stayed in the Championship.
He’s had enough good games for Tottenham to suggest he could play for a bottom-half team in the Premier League.
It also seems easy to link Leeds with Foyth.
He’s an Argentina international, Leeds have an Argentine manager. He’s a ball-playing defender, Bielsa is likely to need a new ball-playing defender when Ben White’s loan ends. Foyth’s future is looking bleak at Spurs, Leeds are close to winning promotion.
We’re taking all this with a pinch of salt at the moment but the noises about Foyth moving to Elland Road are growing louder.
