Leeds on verge of signing Southampton striker amid £8.2m Mateo Joseph bid
Leeds United are said to be “on the verge” of signing a Southampton striker after receiving a £8.2million bid for Mateo Joseph, according to El Desmarque
The Spanish news outlet reported (3 February) that the Whites could be about to sign a striker from Southampton amid links to both Cameron Archer [Adam Blackmore] and Adam Armstrong, both on loan deals.
Real Betis are believed to have made a £8.2m bid to sign Joseph that was rejected, with the Spanish outlet claiming that the arrival of a new striker could see the Whites sanction his exit.
With just hours remaining in the window, both clubs will need to move fast to wrap up any potential deal.

While there are more than two possibilities, Archer and Armstrong are definitely the two most likely to join Leeds, with the latter having the least potential to occur. Although neither can be written off.
Both players would provide a huge injection of quality for the Whites and provide Daniel Farke with an even bigger selection headache than he had before with neither likely to settle to be an impact player.
Perhaps the biggest draw to the duo would be their versatility. Archer has shown his capability of performing in a 10 role or as a number nine while Armstrong can lead the line or play wide left.

For that reason alone, attention may be drawn to Archer with the Whites previously showcasing an interest in signing a number 10 this window.
Efforts will need to be ramped up to secure either deal with the window slamming shut at 11pm for English clubs.
