‘Leeds need to buy in January’ as Daniel Farke does not trust Elland Road star already
Leeds United have been told they need to splash out on a new forward in January after a worrying defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Daniel Farke has huge pressure on his shoulders after Leeds lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest, in another performance that was unconvincing on the road.
It was always going to be a battle for the Whites to stay in England’s top flight this season, and after 11 Premier League games, Leeds are well and truly in a fight for survival.
The striker department has been a particular area that has concerned fans, and recent reports suggest that Leeds will simply need to buy improvements come January.

Joel Piroe concern raised after Leeds loss vs Nottingham Forest
Farke decided to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin with Lukas Nmecha in the starting line-up to take on Sean Dyche’s side.
Calvert-Lewin has come under fire for missing big chances for the Whites, with Nmecha scoring at the weekend, but he may not have impressed everyone with his all-around performance.
- Nmecha is now Leeds’ joint-top scorer in the league with two goals
- The German has started just two times in the Premier League
- Calvert-Lewin has 10 appearances for the Whites in all competitions, but just one goal
On Monday, page 60 of the Daily Mail’s print edition, journalist Tom Collomosse explained exactly why “Leeds need to buy in January”, suggesting that Joel Piroe is out of favour at Elland Road.
Collomosse said: “Brought in for the injured Calvert-Lewin, Nmecha repaid Leeds boss Farke instantly with a smart finish. Thereafter, though, Nmecha struggled to make an impact and was taken off.
“Joel Piroe was highly effective in the Championship, but does not seem to be trusted in the Premier League. Leeds need to buy in January.”
Joel Piroe has been tipped for a Leeds exit, as his funds could prove vital for bringing in another man who can contribute toward Paraag Marathe’s ambition of keeping the Whites in the Premier League.

If Piroe does leave, Leeds could turn their full attention to one man that they have already been linked with.

Leeds could sign Josh Sargent in January
Josh Sargent has been linked with a move to Leeds, as Farke is said to be keen on the American striker.
The former Premier League striker played in the top division with Norwich City, where he still currently plays.
There’s not much that Sargent can do at the moment as the Canaries are sitting 23rd in the Championship, following the sacking of head coach Liam Manning on Saturday, 8 November.
Sargent is currently on six goals for Norwich this season, as his side’s poor form could work in Leeds’ favour, as a possible cut-price deal could become apparent in January.
