Leeds make shock approach to sign Galatasaray star in controversial deal
Leeds United and Galatasaray have had a strong rivalry since their meeting in the 2000 UEFA Cup semi-final.
Violence the day before the match led to two fans from the Yorkshire club being killed as tensions boiled over in Istanbul.
Since then, the two clubs have had a strong hatred for each other, with Rio Ferdinand recently being blasted for supporting Galatasaray in their recent Turkish Cup victory.
However, Daniel Farke is willing to put history aside this summer in order to make improvements to his squad.

Leeds United make ‘enquiry’ for Galatasaray’s Gabriel Sara
It is no secret that Leeds want a new attacking midfielder this summer.
Emi Buendia has been linked with a move to Elland Road as he looks to get his career back on track.
Now, according to Graeme Bailey via TBR Football (31 May), Galatasaray’s Gabriel Sara is also being considered as an option this summer.
The report states that Leeds have “enquired” about signing the Brazilian in their search for a new number 10.

Sara had previously played for Norwich City until he moved to Turkey last summer.
After a successful spell at Galatasaray, where he has won the domestic double, the 25-year-old could now be in line for a move back to England.

Leeds fans must forget Sara’s Galatasaray past if he signs at Elland Road
While Sara would be an excellent signing, it is hard to ignore how controversial a potential deal would be.
There is certainly no love between the two clubs, and Sara could be subject to heavy criticism if he underperforms.
However, the Elland Road faithful must forget his Galatasaray past if he signs, given the quality of the player.
The 25-year-old was sensational at Norwich and has only got better over the past year.
If a deal is struck, Sara would be a fantastic signing, and he would definitely improve the quality of the squad.
