Leeds make new loan-to-buy bid to seal Carlos transfer at Elland Road
Leeds United have already signed several new defenders ahead of the new Premier League season.
Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw will strengthen the hub of Daniel Farke’s defence, while Gabriel Gudmundsson is a worthy addition at left back.
The Elland Road club have also added Jayden Lienou and Louis Enahoro‑Marcus to their youth ranks as they plan for the future.
Despite signing numerous defenders already, it appears the Elland Road club are also keen on Fenerbahce’s Diego Carlos.

Leeds United make move for former Aston Villa man
Sean Longstaff is the latest Leeds arrival in what has been a substantial summer for the Premier League outfit.
The Peacocks, along with the other promoted clubs, have been looking to complete their business early to allow their players to gel ahead of the new campaign.
Defence is clearly an area the Whites want to bolster despite their admirable defensive record in the Championship last season.
Only Burnley conceded fewer goals than Farke’s men as they clinched the title on the final day, thanks to Manor Solomon.
Club | Goals conceded |
Burnley | 16 |
Leeds | 30 |
Sheffield United | 36 |
Sunderland | 44 |
Now, Leeds have submitted a loan-to-buy bid for former Aston Villa centre back Diego Carlos, according to Sabah (19 July, page 17).
The Turkish outlet reports that Sunderland and Burnley have also submitted the same proposal to Fenerbahce.
Carlos is on Fenerbahce’s sale list and is said to be warming towards Burnley, having informed the management of his feelings.
The Brazilian will be familiar to English football supporters as he spent two and a half years with Villa between 2022 and 2025.
Carlos joined the Turkish outfit for a reported figure of around £10million in January, but has only played five times since December due to injury.

Carlos snub would not be a blow for Leeds
While the 31-year-old showed his quality at times with Villa, he has since endured issues with injury.
That has meant the Brazilian has been unable to make an impact in Turkey, where he seems destined to depart already.
Given his injury record, the Peacocks should not feel too disappointed that the centre back has his heart set on Burnley.
Farke already has a host of options in the core of his defence, and he does not need to add another option.
A goalkeeper, winger, and striker should be the priority moving forward for the Elland Road club.
