Leeds make move to beat Nottingham Forest to Mehdi Taremi signing

Leeds United, West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Fulham are reportedly among the clubs keen on Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi.

The Iran international moved to San Siro last summer and has been linked with an exit a year later.

Taremi, 33, has 93 caps to his name for his country and has found the back of the net on 53 occasions.

Taremi certain to seal Inter Milan exit

According to Persian news outlet Tasnim News (30 July), Taremi has been linked with a number of Premier League sides, including West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Fulham.

Leeds United have already made an approach for Taremi as they look to sign a new striker.

His departure from the Italian club is now certain after Simone Inzaghi parted ways for a move to Saudi Arabia.

Inter have five attacking players on their side, meaning Taremi is down in the pecking order and not likely to get regular game time.

He failed to live up to expectations at the Serie A side and if a Premier League move is not on the cards, Besiktas and Botago are also keen on him.

Leeds United must avoid signing Taremi this summer

Signing the 33-year-old striker is not a wise move for Leeds United, as his age and lack of Premier League experience make him a risky, short-term fit.

Despite an impressive record at Porto, Taremi’s limited exposure to English football, with no top-flight experience, raises concerns about his adaptability to the Premier League’s physicality and pace.

At 33, his peak years are behind him, and his recent stint at Inter Milan suggests declining output.

The Elland Road outfit, aiming for long-term stability under Daniel Farke, need a younger, versatile forward to complement their high-energy system and replace ageing or departing players like Patrick Bamford.

Investing in Taremi’s high wages for a short-term fix could strain finances and hinder development, especially when younger, Premier League-proven talents are available.
