Leeds make approach to sign Christantus Uche, £21.5m bid can trigger deal
Leeds United’s transfer window has found a new gear in recent days.
The signings of Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Lukas Nmecha had got the Whites off to a good start, but a lull appeared to set in following.
But Leeds have now spurred back into life, kick-started by the signing of Swedish full-back Gabriel Gudmundsson.
Sean Longstaff is expected to join the club after a fee was agreed with Newcastle United, and talks with Hoffenheim have developed over the signing of Anton Stach.

Leeds make Uche enquiry
Daniel Farke is looking to strengthen his options going forward this summer.
The German benefited from several high scorers last season, with Joel Piroe and Daniel James both hitting double figures in the Championship.
But Leeds have lost Manor Solomon, who directly contributed to 22 goals across the campaign, after the winger returned to Tottenham – who have, so far, not shown a willingness to depart again with the 25-year-old.
Nmecha has strengthened Farke’s options already, but the West Yorkshire club would benefit from a further option going forward as they prepare for the intensity of the Premier League.
One option on the radar is Getafe’s Christantus Uche, according to The Athletic (July 18).
Leeds checked on the Nigerian, who has a release clause worth around £21.5million in his contract, a few weeks ago, according to the report.
No move is thought to be advanced, but the player does represent an option for the Whites.
Uche would provide quality depth for Leeds
Whilst Uche featured predominantly as a centre-forward for Getafe last season, the Nigerian can also play as an attacking midfielder, and on the left wing.
Joining the La Liga outfit last summer, the 22-year-old scored four goals and provided six assists in his debut season.
Position | Appearances (La Liga 2024/25) |

LW | 2 |
Piroe is expected to play through the middle for Farke, but Uche could provide an interesting alternative to Brenden Aaronson.
And the three could, in theory, appear together, with the Nigerian sometimes playing the role of a shadow striker – deployed slightly behind the main threat and often ghosting in behind.
The price tag is costly, however, with Getafe’s stance on negotiating below the release clause not yet clear.
