Leeds loan star expresses desire to stay at Elland Road next season
Jack Harrison has revealed that he hopes to stay at Leeds United next season if they manage to reach the Premier League.
The 23-year-old winger is in his second season on loan at Elland Road and has been a contender to win the club’s player of the season award for his performances since the summer.
Leeds do not have the option to sign Harrison at the end of his contract but the Manchester Evening News reported in January that Manchester City will listen to offers of £8million for the attacker.
It was claimed that Leeds would be willing to match City’s valuation of Harrison if they win promotion to the Premier League and it seems that the player would be receptive towards a permanent switch to West Yorkshire.
“Me, myself, I want to do everything I can to help [Leeds] get to the Premier League and hopefully I can still be with them next season,” Harrison told ESPN FC.
“As a player, I always want to play at the highest level and push myself to the limit. I am not opposed to going back to Man City if that’s what’s required of me, if that’s what is wanted. I have to be ambitious as a player as well.
“If it’s playing with Man City or wherever, or with Leeds in the Premiership next season, I’m going to try and play my best wherever it is. We’ll just have to see what happens I think.”
For £8million, it seems that Leeds can get themselves a winger who’s proven he can play well in Marcelo Bielsa’s system, is still young at 23, has impressed at the top of the Championship and is open to making a permanent switch to the club.
Surely, it would be a no brainer for Leeds to pay that £8million for the Man City winger?
It may hinge on promotion due to the financial side of the deal but even if the Whites do not go up, they should push to land Harrison.
