Leeds loan star confirms he wants to extend Elland Road stay

Leeds United loan star Jack Harrison has confirmed that he wants to extend his stay at Elland Road past the end of the season.

Marcelo Bielsa signed Harrison, 23, on loan from Manchester City in 2018 and after playing a key role last season, the Leeds boss snapped up the winger on another season-long deal last summer.

Harrison was often criticised for his displays last term but it is clear he’s a much better play now than he was when Bielsa first signed him and fans would love to see the winger join permanently from Man City.

The former New York City attacker has opened the door to that happening, admitting that he would love to stay past the end of this season and hopefully will be joining a Leeds side playing in the Premier League.

“It’s been great for my development,” he said, as quoted by LeedsLive. “As a player, it’s hard for me to say why I wouldn’t want to come back here.

“For me, it’s been a great experience. The lads have been great, working with the coaching staff I’ve learnt a lot and just the club as a whole have really helped me out.

“There’s no reason why I should say ‘no I don’t want to stay here next season.’

“Hopefully, if it’s in the Premier League, then even better. Fingers crossed that happens.”

Harrison has started all 37 Championship fixtures this season, scoring five goals and supplying seven assists in the process.

While fellow attacking players Patrick Bamford and Helder Costa have often divided opinion among Leeds fans, Harrison hasn’t, with the 23-year-old having a huge importance in Bielsa’s attack.

Leeds do not have the option to sign Harrison permanently but the Manchester Evening News has previously reported that Man City are willing to sell him to the Yorkshire club.

It would take around £8million for Leeds to buy the Stoke-born ace but that seems more than a fair fee given how used to he is playing in Bielsa’s system and the fact he’s homegrown and only 23.
