Leeds-linked Vazquez leans towards Valencia switch

Real Madrid ace Lucas Vazquez has decided he wants to stay in Spain despite speculation linking him with a move to Leeds United, according to El Gol Digital.

Last month, Cuatro reported Leeds had registered an interest in signing the 29-year-old, who’s played as a right-back and right-winger for Real Madrid this season.

It was understood that he’d rejected a new contract at the Bernabeu with his existing deal there due to expire this summer.

El Gol Digital now suggests Leeds are likely to miss out on signing Vazquez with the Spain international, who’s in “exceptional” form, leaning towards a move to Valencia.

Offers from outside of Spain have reportedly been made for Vazquez while Sevilla have also been interested.

However, it seems that Leeds and Sevilla will miss out on the Bernabeu contract rebel with a move to Valencia the most appealing option for him.

Cross one off the list already

Vazquez would have been a very handy signing for Leeds United if they were able to snap up the 29-year-old on a free transfer from Real Madrid.

He can play anywhere on the right-hand side and has scored two goals and supplied assists for a further five in 30 appearances across all competitions this season for the La Liga giants.

The nine-times Spain international is a regular for Zinedine Zidane so you would imagine that if he can play all the time for Real Madrid, he should be an easy first-team pick at Elland Road.

While Vazquez will turn 30-years-old in the summer, he’s someone with vast experience of playing for a top team in a top league. He’s also played a lot of Champions League football and represented Spain at the European Championships and World Cup.

He would not look out of place at Leeds at all and as a free transfer singing, it’s unlikely there’ll be many better in the summer transfer window.

Unfortunately, it seems Valencia are more likely to win the race for Vazquez but seeing us looking at Real Madrid players shows Victor Orta is on the right tracks for some exciting acquisitions in the summer.

In other Leeds United news, Jeff Stelling has made a mouthwatering claim about this £30million-rated ace who’s been linked with the Whites.
