Leeds-linked midfielder agrees personal terms with AC Milan – Fabrizio Romano
Leeds United target Jens Petter Hauge has agreed personal terms to join AC Milan on a permanent basis, according to Sky Sports Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Last week, Italian news outlet CalcioMeracto claimed that Leeds were leading the race to sign the 20-year-old, who plays for Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt.
However, the Whites have now all but lost out on the Norway Under-21 winger with Romano reporting that he’s agreed to join Serie A giants AC Milan instead.
Speculation linking Hauge with a move to Elland Road was short-lived but it is likely that Victor Orta has had the Norwegian youngster on his radar for some time.
In fact, you would imagine that a lot of clubs would have been aware of the 20-year-old’s exploits at Bodo/Glimt as in the 2020 season, he’s scored 17 goals and supplied 11 assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.
Even if it is the Norwegian league, when a young player does that, scouts across the world are bound to have taken a peak.
Orta has an extensive scouting network and you can bet that Hauge appeared on the radar of one of his recruitment experts at some point this year.
AC Milan are now set to land the exciting young talent and that is a shame for Leeds, especially as Marcelo Bielsa is widely reported to want another wide player adding to his squad before the transfer window closes.
Hauge has played mainly on the left for Bodo/Glimt but can also move to play a more central role or even on the right [WyScout].
He’d have been a nice option to have because of Bielsa’s thirst for a new winger but another target will have to be pursued now instead.
In other Leeds United news, this is the player who Leeds “dream” of signing before the transfer window closes.
