Leeds line up next new striker signing after Calvert-Lewin with medical booked

Leeds United are already eyeing up another addition to their attack after Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Whites are in desperate need of reinforcements at the top of the pitch in the final few weeks of the transfer window if they are to have any chance of staying in the Premier League.

Leeds have already agreed a deal with Calvert-Lewin, who has attracted plenty of top-flight interest since his departure from Everton earlier in the summer.

Nevertheless, Daniel Farke and Co. still seem keen to bring in further options to lead the line, and they already have their eyes fixed on their next target.

Leeds eye Fotis Ioannidis amid Calvert-Lewin medical news

Calvert-Lewin is set for a medical at Leeds imminently, and could even be available to make his debut for his new side in their Premier League opener against Everton on Monday night.

Calvert-Lewin appears to be just hours away from completing his move to West Yorkshire, and his arrival could be quickly followed by another new face coming through the door.

The Whites are now understood to be keeping tabs on Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis, according to BBC Sport.

Farke’s side could be set to go against the Portuguese duo of Benfica and Porto to secure the signature of the Greek, who also attracted interest from Ipswich Town last summer.

Iaonnidis hit 11 goals in all competitions last season, as he could be about to earn a move outside his homeland for the first time in his career.

Leeds need to target better players than Ioannidis

Leeds are also interested in Artem Dovbyk and Rodrigo Muniz, who would both be much more exciting additions than Ioannidis.

The 25-year-old has endured a fairly nondescript career so far and is not likely to be at the level needed to have a big impact in the Premier League.

He has never been a particularly prolific goalscorer in the Greek top flight, barring a significant outlier in the 2023/24 campaign, and he is simply not on the same level as some of the other targets that the Whites have been linked with.

The focus for Leeds has to be on bringing more proven top-level quality into their attack, and the signing of Ioannidis would do little to help them achieve that goal.
