Leeds line up January swoop for Lorenzo Pellegrini and one other Serie A star
Leeds United have adapted well to life in the Premier League, but they’re already targeting new players to sign in January.
It’s being widely reported that Daniel Farke is interested in adding some additional playmakers to sign in the winter transfer window.
Leeds were linked with a January move for Fulham midfielder Harry Wilson this week, although Fulham were quick to issue a hands-off warning.
Indeed, it seems that the Whites have already moved on from Wilson and are now targeting playmakers plying their trade in Serie A.

Leeds move for Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini and Piotr Zielinski
Leeds already have Anton Stach, one of the Premier League’s most productive playmakers of this season, but it seems as if Farke wants strength in depth in this position.
Asromalive.it reports [25 September] that Leeds are eyeing up Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini. The Italian has played for the Giallorossi since 2017, but his contract expires next summer and it’s believed that he wants a move. Roma may therefore try to offload him in January to ensure they get a fee before he departs.
The website also suggests Leeds are interested in Piotr Zielinski. The Polish midfielder tends to play a bit deeper, but he’s certainly capable of creating goals at the highest level.

Leeds will likely need extra cover in attack this January
Farke was given plenty of transfer funds in the summer, and early evidence suggests that he has spent well.
Three of his summer signings — Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach and Noah Okafor — all scored their first goals in Leeds’ 3-1 victory against Wolves.
However, it remains unclear whether they have the strength in depth to compete in Premier League games if one or more of these players become unavailable.
In reserve, they have the likes of:
- Dan James
- Willy Gnonto
- Brenden Aaronson
- Jack Harrison.
Yet, these players all remain unproven at Premier League level. Not many Leeds fans would feel comfortable relying on them for goals for an extended period, particularly the latter pair.
So, it makes sense that Leeds are already starting to eye playmakers to potentially sign for them in January.
It now seems unlikely that Leeds will land Wilson, but these two Serie A stars could prove both prove to be promising alternatives.
