Leeds keeping close watch on Wolfsburg winger Josip Brekalo
Leeds United have been scouting Wolfsburg winger Josip Brekalo ahead of a possible summer move, according to the Express.
The report claims the Whites are battling German giants Bayern Munich as well as domestic rivals Everton for the player who has drawn comparisons to Dutch legend Arjen Robben.
Leeds have been watching the 22-cap Croatian international closely over the past few months, and they would have been impressed with his contributions against Union Berlin on Saturday, where he scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 win for the Champions League-chasing side.
Those goals saw his Bundesliga tally surge to seven for the season so far, while he has also laid on three assists for his teammates to help inspire them to their current third-placed position ahead of the final two rounds of fixtures.
It’s the highest goalscoring season of the 22-year-old’s budding career, beating his 2017/18 total of five.
Harrison rival?

He’s managed to contribute to goals in different ways, with five goals and zero assists from the left and just a solitary goal but three assists from the right.
With Helder Costa and Ian Poveda struggling to deputise for our first-team wingers Brekalo could be the ideal player to come in.
Raphinha’s place in the starting XI looks certain but Jack Harrison could do with increased competition to raise his game even further.
He’s been an impressive performer on the whole but he did have a mid-season dip of sorts, leading Marcelo Bielsa to drop him to the bench for a few games.
Costa replaced him but despite flashes of brilliance he continues to disappoint and more quality is required to rival Harrison’s spot, something Brekalo could provide.
